Jim was one of a kind. Super smart, kind, a true gentleman. When I pass, I hope to find my great friend again.

Jim's greatest acts of kindness were most commonly being silent in the face of his teammates and partner's misadventures. Personally he never forgot to wish me and my family well for the holidays and our respective birthdays. In fact, I found Jim to be kind virtually always. I think of him often and he is irreplaceable as a friend and teammate.

Jim was a dear friend and frequent bridge partner for many years. He was very good at both. His absence hurts and I miss his smile.

My most heartfelt condolences to all of you who are members of the Looby family, friends and everyone else who knew him. A zealous competitor, Jim was one of the very best teammates and competitors we had in our organization. His presence in Overland Park Regional at the end of 2022 was a joy. We had a great bottle of wine, helped someone become a LifeMaster, a great dinner (fried chicken instead of prime rib for a change) in honor of his birthday. The Great American Bridge Tour family will never run out of Looby stories, and in such a manner he lives with us still. We all loved him.

I was so sorry to hear about James's passing.
My favorite memory with James was Chelsea’s birthday dinner when we were about 12. I met up with everyone around dessert at Mi Piace. Chelsea had ordered a raspberry mouse cake, but couldn’t eat it because she had gone to a birthday party earlier and had too many Warheads, so everything tasted sour. James thought it was funny and teased Chelsea about it as long as we were at the restaurant. It was a wonderful glimpse into their relationship and how much he loved his daughter.
Until we see you again! With much love,
Sarah

Dad,
Two favorite memories:
1.) How you NEVER got tired of telling the cruise story about Jeffrey when he was a toddler. You and him went to the dining room to get breakfast and when the waiter came to take your order, Jeffrey slammed his fists on the table and exclaimed, "We don't want no octopus, we want steak for breakfast". I think I heard you tell this story over 20 times, but each time it was told with the bravado of a never before told story and your face would light up the room.
2.) The story of how Armin asked for your blessing to marry me. I will cherish that story forever. Did you know he was so nervous? I also often think back to when I had spoken with you to tell you the news of my engagement and I told you in that conversation how touched Armin had been by your reaction. And then a couple of days later after that conversation, you sent me a random text saying "Incidentally, I was quite touched that Armin asked for my approval". He forever thanks you for his blessing and promises to take care of your little girl.
Love you and I will be seeing you again!
XO,
Chelsea
