James's obituary

James Patrick Lohan, affectionately known as Jim, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022, surrounded by family. Jim was 86 years old and enjoyed a long and happy life. He leaves behind a legacy for love of family, friends, and life itself.

Jim was born in Brooklyn in 1936. He attended P.S. 159 in Bayside Queens, Bayside High School, and City College in Manhattan. After serving in the Navy from 1955 to 1957, he began a career with some of the largest insurance companies in the world. He married his wife of 49 years, Laura Mulligan, in 1973 in Queens, NY. Jim and Laura settled in New Jersey where they raised their family and have resided for the past forty plus years. Before and after his retirement, Jim loved to spend time with all his family, vacation in their Vermont lake house, follow the local sports team, care for his dogs, track the weather, and enjoy his favorite foods, including but not limited to pastrami, chocolate milkshakes, and boxty.

He is survived by his wife Laura Lohan, children Tish Inzerillo and James Lohan Jr., brother Andrew Lohan, sister-in-law Ileen Lohan, son-in-law Chris Inzerillo, daughter-in-law Veronica Lohan, grandchildren Lily Inzerillo, Kaitlyn Inzerillo, Nicole Inzerillo, Delia Lohan, Declan Lohan, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Patrick & Delia (Murphy) Lohan, brother Bernard Lohan, and sister Anna Mary Rice, sister-in-law Shirley Lohan, and brother-in-law Robert Rice.

Jim was a friend to everyone and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and easy-going personality. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

No services will be held at this time, but the family is planning a Celebration of Life in the spring of 2023. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local animal shelter in memory of Jim’s love of pets.
