James's obituary

James Robert Kelly II died on 7/11/2022 at the age of 86 in his home of 20 years in West Wareham, MA. Born on 2/5/1936 in Quincy, MA. Brother of Mary Russo of Andover, MA. Father of James Kelly III of Braintree, MA, Joseph Kelly of Braintree, MA, and Donna Kelly Donato of Wakefield, MA. Grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by longtime partner Sophie Sylvia of West Wareham, MA, former husband of Marjorie (Kelliher) Kelly of Braintree, MA, brother of Joan Kelly of California, son of James Kelly of Sandwich, MA, and Mary (Rooney) Kelly of Stoneham, MA. James graduated from Quincy High School in 1954, where he excelled in both cross country and track. In 1954, he earned a track scholarship to UMass Amherst. After 3 years of college, James enlisted and served his country in the Army from 1958 until 1964 when he received his honorable discharge. James was employed at New England Telephone Company when decided to continue his education at Northeastern University in Engineering Electronics. He was employed for over 40 years from starting out as a Facilities/Telephone Pole Worker to Technician Manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, golfing, bike riding, and thrift store shopping.
