James (Jim)'s obituary

James (Jim) Brian Campbell, 54, a longtime resident of Northern Virginia, but originally from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2020 in Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, VA with his wife and three children by his side. He was born November 12, 1965 in Boston, MA. Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years Lisa; his three children, Stephanie, Justin, and Nick; his parents, James P. (Jim) and Laura Campbell; his four siblings, Shawn, Brian, Ken, and Jess, and their spouses; his eight nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, son, older brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Jim showed an interest in trade work from an early age, working at his father’s flooring company throughout his youth. After graduating from Bridgewater-Raynham High School in 1983, Jim moved with his wife Lisa to Northern Virginia. Jim spent the majority of his adult life in Springfield, VA. In his early adulthood, Jim worked for a number of years at his own flooring installation business as well as at WJFK radio station. Shortly after the birth of his youngest child, Jim dedicated his life to his children as a stay at home parent. For many years when his children were young, Jim played an active role in school PTAs, coached youth basketball teams, supported girl scouts and boy scouts, and served as a board member at Springboard Pool. Jim is a longtime member of the Franconia Moose Lodge in Alexandria, VA, where he also worked. He enjoyed socializing with friends and acquaintances. Jim was known by many for his willingness to always lend a hand, and his love of socializing and joking around. He was a natural handyman, with many talents in car maintenance, home renovation, and carpentry. Jim also had an affinity for computers and often built his own. He enjoyed many past times such as fishing, camping, shooting clay pigeons, playing pool, and watching NASCAR and Impractical Jokers.

Jim will be missed greatly by his family and his friends, but will continue on in their memories. Due to the pandemic, memorial services in both VA and MA will be planned for later dates.
