James's obituary
James Granner Jr.
August 7, 1952 – June 15, 2025
James “Jim” Granner Jr., 72, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 after grappling with some injuries sustained in a fall. Born and raised in North Dakota, Jim was the beloved son of the late James Granner Sr. and Audrey Granner (née Taylor). From his early years, Jim was known for his strong work ethic, deep loyalty to family, and zest for life.
Jim spent the majority of his professional life in Oklahoma, where he dedicated over 40 years of service to Boeing. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for sports, hunting, and travel—interests he carried with him throughout his life. Whether cheering on his beloved University of Oklahoma Sooners, venturing into the wilderness, or exploring new places, Jim lived with energy and enthusiasm.
After retiring, Jim and his wife, Sherry (Chaplin) Granner, settled in the scenic town of LaConner, Washington, where he enjoyed a slower pace of life, new friendships, and more time with family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Audrey (Taylor) Long, and his sister, Randi Kay. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; his sister, Nadine Lien; his children, Shawn Granner, Kirsten Granner, and Kelbie Granner; and 14 cherished grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Jim’s legacy is one of hard work, love for the outdoors, dedication to family, and a life lived fully. To speak of him is to speak of laughter. He had a gift for making people smile, even when we didn’t think we were capable. He will be remembered for his warm laugh, generous heart, and unwavering support for those he loved.
A small celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to a conservation or youth sports organization of your choice.
