Jimmy's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jimmy) Clinton Goachee III on April 12, 2025. At the age of 65, Jimmy concluded his courageous, many-year battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love. Born in Miami, Florida, on August 19, 1959, to the late James Clinton Goachee II and Sandra Bauch, Jimmy spent the majority of his life as a cherished member of the Alachua County community.
Jimmy's life was defined by his unwavering passion for improving the lives of all youth through recreation. He devoted countless hours, both professionally and as a volunteer, to improving sports and activity programs across the State of Florida. His impact was profoundly felt through his service with organizations such as the Micanopy Area Recreation Co-op, City of Gainesville Recreation, the Boys and Girls Club of Gainesville, and Florida State Babe Ruth, among many others. Beyond his community work, Jimmy was an enthusiastic and loyal fan of the Florida Gators and the Miami Dolphins.
Jimmy is survived by his loving family: his son, James Harrell, his daughter, Janna Goachee; his son, Joshua Dykes, and daughter-in-law, Alex Navas; and his cherished grandchildren, Evelyn Harrell, Nash Dykes, and Niko Dykes; his sister, Patricia Craig, and her husband, Steve. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as the many others who claim him as their "adopted dad."
He will be remembered not only for his significant contributions but also for his expansive heart. Jimmy served as an important role model and mentor to many beyond his biological children, offering guidance, support, and coaching to countless young people throughout their lives.
Jimmy's dedication to youth and his community has left an indelible mark on the state of Florida. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his contribution and the positive impact he had on so many lives.
Details regarding a celebration of life gathering will be announced by the family at a later time.
