James's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James Gary Ricks, who left us on March 21st, 2024. He was a man of simple joys and profound love. His presence will be deeply missed, and his absence will leave a void in our hearts.
James is survived by his sons Daniel (Leah) Alexander, Mark (Heather Folsom) Rush, and Walter (Dawn) Rush, his siblings Betty Harley, Evelyn (Wilbert) McEhaney, Larry (Becky) Ricks, his nephew Michael Ricks, among others as well as many grand children, and great nephews and neices.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine "Kitty" Ricks, his loving sisters, Sylvia "Sibby" Ricks, Lula Worthy, Jennie Johnson, and Patricia "Pat" Fraser.
Known for his love of Carey Hillard's fried shrimp, cheeseburgers, and Big K diet cola, Gary knew how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He found joy in the melodies of Patsy Cline, and comfort in the suspense of his favorite true crime television shows. He was a passionate fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves, cheering them on with vigor and pride.
James was a man of games and fun, with gambling among his favorites. He was also a man who loved engaging in recreational activities, especially playing bingo and tinkering with his car. He could often be found at his favorite local spot, the Bingo Hall, immersed in his favorite pastimes.
Though James may have left us physically, his spirit lives on. His laughter, his love, his unique quirks, like his devotion to his favorite foods, drinks, and music, will never be forgotten. His passion for his favorite sports teams, the joy he brought to game nights, his love for his friends and family; these memories of him are cherished irreplaceably in our hearts. We celebrate his life and the happiness that he brought to those around him.
May his soul find peace and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
