Jim/Jimbo's obituary

On Thursday, June 15, 2023, James “Jim” Allan Gallardy, 73, of Hazel Green, Alabama, died peacefully at home with his beloved wife Gloria (Kelley) by his side.

Jim, fondly known as “Jimbo” by family and friends, was born to James and Gloria “Jean” Gallardy in Summerhill, Pennsylvania. He graduated Forest Hills High School in 1967 and attended Williamsport Community College. A United States Air Force veteran (June 1969-June 1973), Jim served as an E-4 Sgt Electronic Warfare Repairman assigned to the 55th Reconnaissance Wing of the Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska, Vietnam, Guam, and Thailand. Jim worked at Siemens, Phillips Medical Systems, and Huntsville Hospital, where he retired in 2017 after 28 years of employment as an Electrical Service Engineer. He was a talented drummer and an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan who enjoyed music, woodworking, drum clinics, car shows, computers, fishing, gardening, old movies, outdoor projects, nature, spending time with his friends and family, and playing with his precious grandchildren. Jim never met a stranger and was always ready to share a laugh or extend a helping hand to those around him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean (Kelley), son Shad “Shadow” Allan, daughter Heather Eileen Savanapridi (Shane), and grandchildren Honor, Winter, and River. He is also survived by brothers Greg and David (Terry) and many loving relatives including an Aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews, and sisters- and brothers-in-law. He is preceded in death by parents, James Bennett & Gloria Regina (Malloy) Gallardy; Paternal Grandparents, James B. “Ben” and Maude (Blair) Gallardy; Maternal Grandparents John F. Malloy and Elizabeth “Nuna” Regina DuBreucq; Brothers (infant) John and Patrick.

Visitation will be held from 2-3:30pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Hazel Green Funeral Home in Hazel Green, Alabama. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will immediately follow from 3:30-4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society in Jim's name.
