Thank you for the great childhood memories. I always enjoyed being around The Fikes Family. I’ll always remember our lake days at Lake O’Neill and riding in your boat on Camp Pendleton, going fishing on the Oceanside pier, Saturday night card games with my parents and The Wilcox Family at one of our houses. New Year’s parties. You and Aunt Sam treated me as your own and that made me feel so loved. Even though we were not related by blood, we were still called each other family. You will be truly missed but never forgotten. Your stories had me laughing for days. I love you Ninong Jim.
To the Fikes Family especially to Mike, Wayne and Sheila I love you all and I’m so sorry for the loss of your pops. His legendary stories will continue to live on in you all. I’m very honored to have called him Ninong .

My fun-loving, precious brother Jimmy loved life. I don't remember him ever being depressed.
I was around 14 and Jim 16. We lived in the "boondocks" and were quite bored. Our mom's husband had a little Corvair that we wanted to take for a spin, but we knew that wasn't allowed. They always went to bed early, so Jim decided we'd have a ride anyway, they'd never know. We didn't have a key, so Jim took one of the lamps and cut the electric cord. Needless to say, he hot-wired the car and away we went! Had an awesome time showing off around Marked Tree. A day or so later, Mom was sooo perplexed about her lamp not working. 🤔 We volunteerd no information. 😅😅
