James's obituary

Dear Family and Friends,

We are writing this post with a heavy heart and sadness. Our beloved James Edward Lee, age 77, passed away on December 31, 2021.

James was an intelligent and kind man, often joking and full of stories; some would say, he is a wizard of words. His library collection was very intellectual, reflecting an eagerness to share his knowledge of every subject, field, and civilization.

James served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later completed his degree in Philosophy from UC Berkeley. He was a proud Golden Bear and Cal Alumni Association supporter. He was an artist at heart, living most of his life in San Francisco as a business owner to fund his passion for photography, philosophy, and writing.

James is survived by his sons Charles and Andrew Lee, his step-daughter CiCi Askari, his admiring grandchildren, Lily and Andre Askari, Penelope Lee, and his loving family and friends.

We are asking those close to us to post their favorite photos and share their favorite memories of James on his Memorial Website here: https://everloved.com/life-of…

James will continue in our hearts, and our warmest memories of his generosity and jovial spirit shall find a place to be honored in the coming generations. He shall be remembered as a dutiful son, loving brother, father and step-father, grandfather, and loyal friend.
