Background
There are 3 charities we wish to support in Jim's honor.
1) St. Patrick's Parish of Havre de Grace- Educational Grant and Aid
2) Loyola Evergreen Fund - Scholarship Endowment
3) Gilchrist Hospice
By donating to the Memorial Fund we will divide the donations made evenly between the 3 charities.
Jim's legacy started with his Jesuit education. He spent 17 years in the order before starting a new vocation and family. He was an educator and avid life-long learner and believed in faith-based education. All 3 children were beneficiaries of early Catholic education and he was a proud father of Loyola alumni/ employee and grandfather of 2 current Loyola undergrad students who all benefited from values-based education. Jim also participated faithfully in the annual Cosmos and Creation symposium hosted at Loyola. It would be an honor to Jim's memory to offer a contribution in lieu of flowers in support of the 2 Catholic Education Scholarship Funds (elementary and university levels) which assists students who cannot otherwise afford tuition allowing them to benefit from a Catholic/ Jesuit influenced education. We would also like to support Gilchrist Hospice which was an invaluable resource in caring for Jim at home in his final weeks.
