James's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Cousineau on April 5, 2026. Known affectionately as 'Jim' to some but preferring James, he was born on January 27, 1944, leaving us a legacy of 82 years of love, life, and beautiful memories.

James left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His personality had three hallmark features - he was a devoted family man, a beacon of integrity, and a bastion of compassion. These characteristics were shone brightly in his day-to-day life, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Cousineau, who was his life partner and best friend. His love for his wife was matched only by the love he had for his children: Brian, Jill, James, and Scott Cousineau. His memories will live on in their hearts and the hearts of his sister, Janice Cousineau, and many other friends and relatives who mourn this significant loss.

James was a man of diverse interests. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and spent many joyful hours cheering for his favorite team. Enjoying a range of activities in his spare time, James often indulged in bowling games - a testament to his competitive spirit. Gardening was also a favorite pastime, and he took great delight in nurturing his beautiful plants and flowers.

One of the shows James cherished was Dr. Pol, a testament to his love for animals and nature. Nevertheless, the most important lesson he taught those around him was the love of family. His life was a testament to this principle, and we will remember him as the loving and kind-hearted person he was.

While words provide little consolation in times of such loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared with James. His spirit lives on in the lessons he taught us, the passions he shared with us, and in the love he had for his family. There are many ways to describe James - a family man, a man of integrity, a man of compassion - but above all, he was loved. And he will be deeply missed.
