Dear Ones,
On Saturday, I will be deleting my Facebook page and having “Medical Assistance In Dying” administered. This kind, and available, merciful choice is legal, in Canada……and I am using it because, since last summer, I have been dealing with a horrid and incurable disease.
I have been able to, with Lynne’s help, find peace and solace, and to take joy in each day and to savour the knowledge that I have had 75 years of a grand life; of travel over much of the world, of the friendship with people in all those places;of savouring the multitude of skills and knowledge I learned in many different jobs and crafts……and in the multitude of great books and all the other arts, that have brought me laughter, joy, compassion,and the opportunity to hum and sing, along with my good ears and a completely out of tune voice!
I have had the love of a wonderously talented woman, and of a large extended family, the joy of raising two brilliant, and wonderful daughters and the companionship, compassion and friendship of many people across this world;
Because of all that, I ask all of you who know me, to not mourn for me.……….the death of someone who has lived such a life, for 75 years is not a tragedy!
But do know, that with all my heart that I am thankful, for the joy, the love, the friendship, the company, and the helping hands you have given me.
Again, don’t mourn for me. To each of you, having you in my life has been a great joy!
