Roland's obituary

James Roland Chankin, age 80 of Driftwood, Texas passed away on November 12, 2024 of natural causes. He was born on April 5, 1944, grew up and lived in San Antonio, Texas, the first 50 years of his life. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and from St. Mary’s University. He worked in sales. He served the Lord as an elder at Southern Hills Church of Christ for more than 20 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Roland was a big man and was known for his big heart, his steady presence, his gentle guidance, and unconditional love.

Roland is survived by: wife of 58 years Betty; children, James, Archie, and Lea; grandchildren Orion, Emma, Jackson, Tristyn, and Joshua, and loving nieces.

Preceded in joining the Lord: daughter Cari Lynn Chankin, mother and father Edgar Chankin and Florence (Eck) Chankin; brother John Chankin; nephew John David Chankin.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Central Texas Children’s Home (https://www.ctch.org) A memorial service will be held at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 3740 FM 967, Buda TX on November 16,2024 at 10:30 am.
