James's obituary
James Richard Byrnes II, 42, of Elkhart died unexpectedly the morning of November 15, 2023. He was born September 4, 1981, to Brian William, Sr. and Margaret Hester (Golden) Byrnes in Bristol, PA. On July 21, 2023, he married Lisa Samuel in Key West, FL.
James is also survived by their children; James Byrnes III, Aubrie Davies with her husband Adam, Everly Byrnes, Alyssa Samuel, and Issiac Samuel. He leaves behind a brother Brian Byrnes, Jr. with wife Jenny, and his nephew Harrison. James has several extended family members locally and in Pennsylvania.
James took great pride in being a hard worker and providing for his family, serving as a General Manager at Gold & Diamonds Jewelry & Pawn, Reserve Officer for the North Liberty Police, and Security Officer for businesses around the region. He was known as the “fix it” guy and always had the tools or knowledge to help anyone with almost everything.
He took his time when taking care of his cars, from fixing them himself to waxing them in his driveway. He loved cooking, it was most certainly his most passionate hobby, he would make the best food either on the grill or in the oven, he was truly an amazing cook.
He had a unique sense of humor and would make everyone laugh, even at the most inappropriate times. His jokes could make your face turn red instantly. Stemming from a family of humor, naturally he took it to another level. He could break awkward silence with his smile alone, making every room brighter the moment he showed up.
Most importantly, James was ferociously loyal to his friends and family while being a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He took many vacations with his wife Lisa & provided for them. He doted over his parents and called his Mom every day. James and Brian were true brothers that always had each other's backs. Among many things, they were best men in each other's weddings, helped each other with their parents and made time to catch up even when life seemed too busy. As a father, James was so proud and fought hard to be the best example and provider. He wanted his kids to succeed beyond what he accomplished for himself. He gave up so much to make sure his kids had a stable home and were loved. As a cousin & friend, James gave the same love to anyone who knew him and understood him.
James became a grandfather on May 18, 2024 to Emmett Brody James Davies. His family continues to remember him and his great personality. There is a Celebration of Life being held for James on August 3rd.
