JW's obituary
James William Bullock (JW) age 72 of Lee's Summit, Mo. passed away Thursday April 3rd, 2025.
JW was called home to rest in eternal peace and will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
JW began his life on September 11th, 1952 along with his parents, Ruth and W.G. Bullock, and his brother, Robert Bullock and his sister Evelyn "Bullock" Tabor.
JW was never a quitter and fought a long hard battle to the very end.
Perhaps JW was better known as the familiar face and his cars at the racetracks, car shows and cruises. He was willing to share his special knowledge and expertise of automobiles and workings of them. He was always available to help anyone who asked for his advice. His real love was drag racing and circle track racing. When he no longer was able to do them he taught his wife, Laura, how to drag race. He was a very patient man to say the least.
His words of wisdom were so enormous that sometimes it was overwhelming. But so impressive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, In-laws and his son, Jay Bullock.
JW was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.
JW is survived by his loving wife, Laura, of 37 years, brother, Robert Bullock (Margaret), sister, Evelyn Tabor (Mark), and sister-in-law, Donna Wilson and his daughter, Wendy Bullock.
Along with a host of beloved relatives and friends.
A special "Thank-you" to Dr. Chuda and KU Oncology Dept. and Lee's Summit Medical Center for the wonderful care that JW received.
And to his friends of many years, Jim Deschenes and Terry Rush and Kevin Doty for being there at a moment notice to help with anything that JW or his wife needed. And to Kim Romi for her cowboy cookies she would bake when JW requested them.
A Celebration of Life for JW will be held at the Raintree Lake Clubhouse on April 30th from 3 pm to 8 pm. 825 SW Raintree Drive Lee's Summit, Mo. 64082. Weather permitting, bring your classics to the celebration. This will be a casual get together whenever you are able to stop by. Food will be served.
Although JW is no longer with us, his legacy of compassion and laughter will live on.
