James's obituary
James Frank Brousil peacefully went home to his Lord on March 24, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Jim, as he was known to friends and family, was born at home on July 8, 1938, to his mother, Mary, with her family by her side. His father, James, sadly passed before his birth. He had a happy childhood growing up in Newburg Heights, Ohio, and at his maternal grandparents dairy farm in Hinkley, Ohio, where he enjoyed living the simple life with his mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins close by. When Jim was 5, his mother remarried Anthony “Anton” Pasek, who raised him as his own son. He was blessed to become a little brother to Daniel, Bernice, and Donald, and the two families blended as one.
Jim attended Cathedral Latin High School and The University of Dayton, where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. His work ethic, ambition, and experience led him to open his businesses, Concorde Controls Corporation and Executive Material Handling Co., which specialized in industrial controls and automated material handling systems. After retiring from the engineering field, he became a licensed realtor in Florida and spent many years helping families purchase their dream homes in the beautiful Marco Island and Naples area.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially on vacations to the beach where he always told the children “you can go in the water but you can’t get wet.” He also loved his adventures in Put-in-Bay on his beautiful boat, aptly named “Momentary Lapse of Reason.” He loved playing pinochle with his wife’s family, anything to do with classic cars, watching COPS and the Weather Channel, and his beloved Cleveland sports teams. When he retired, he and his wife were blessed to move to his second love, Marco Island, Florida, where they enjoyed 20 beautiful years together, watching the ocean and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Jim was, to his core, a family man. He was married for 60 years to his devoted wife, Patti (Jares), and was a loving father to his daughters, Holly and Heather. He was blessed to be a grandfather to four amazing grandchildren, Isabelle, Noah, Sam, and Zoe, whom he cherished greatly.
Jim was simply the best.
A funeral mass honoring Jim will be held at 11 AM on June 24, 2023, at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, Florida 34145. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Matthew’s House (stmatthewshouse.org)
