James's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we remember the life of James Edward Branch, Founder of Seating Safety Solutions. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found and grow multiple businesses and be an active member in his community and state. Jim was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He later moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where he was married to Denise Branch and had two children, Jonathan Branch and Ashlee Branch, more commonly known by Tree.

He graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, in 1962. After graduating college, he served three years in active duty for the US Army, where he served in Fort Benning, Fort Sill, and Korea as a Second Lieutenant and Field Artillery Officer. After active duty, he then served three years in the US Army Reserves.

He later launched his long career serving both North and South Carolina in the bleacher and auditorium seating industry. This led to him founding Learning Environments, Inc. in 1976. He later sold Learning Environments in 2005. He began pursuing bleacher service and repair, along with Stephen Bishop, through Seating Safety Solutions, Inc. After many years of dedicated service, he later retired from Seating Safety Solutions.

Jim was a detail-oriented, problem solver. Over the course of his life and career he shared his intellect and business knowledge with those who worked for and with him. You could often find him working in his shop pouring into blueprints and researching the best possible solutions to repair a problem. His dedication to his work and the pride he took in a job well done was a product of his honest and hard-working character.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Visitation to follow at Hanes and Lineberry Funeral Home & Guilford Memorial Park, West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC.
