James's obituary
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of James Walter Borque, Sr. James was born in Orange, Texas, on June 28, 1956, and raised by Lucian Jr. and Weda Borque. He passed away in his sleep with family by his side in his home in Baytown, Texas, on June 15, 2025 . His indomitable spirit, stubborn will, and infectious passion for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
James was known by many for his stubborn and hard-headed nature. But behind this exterior was a man who lived his life fearlessly, loved fiercely, and never missed an opportunity to make the best out of every situation. In his words, "We can fix a broken nose, but we can't take runs back," revealing the strength of character and resilience that he embodied.
Throughout his life, James achieved great feats in martial arts. He held a 2nd degree black belt in Kung Fu, as well as 1st degree black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and Bushi Ban. He was also a Master Mason, the highest degree in Craft Masonry and the ultimate goal for most Freemasons. These achievements are a testament to the determination and dedication he brought to every pursuit, and they stand as part of his enduring legacy.
He worked for Harris County for 28 years, and eventually retired as a pipefitter after 15 years. When he wasn't working, he liked engaging in many exciting activities such as hunting, fishing, skydiving, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle.
James had a knack for bringing stories to life, often to the chagrin of those trying to watch a movie with him. He would talk their ears off during the movie, about the movie, the characters, and so on. This quirk added to the charm of his personality and often turned movie nights into memorable experiences.
James is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Michael Laxton. He is survived in death by his wife of 47 years, Ella, two children, James and Letitia, siblings, Sharon Taylor and Lynette Weems, daughter-in-law, Christy, and five grandchildren, Brenden, AJ, Asher, Brently, and Elena.
A memorial service in honor of James Walter Borque, Sr., will be held on June 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Baytown, Texas. We invite his friends, loved ones, and those touched by his life to join us in celebrating his journey and saying our goodbyes.
In these difficult times, let us all remember James Borque - a man who lived fearlessly, loved fiercely, and left an enduring legacy. May his soul rest in peace.
