James Russell Bates (known as JR) entered eternal rest on January 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was born on April 3rd, 1947 in Amory, Mississippi to King Albert Bates and Mary Agnes Baskin. As a young child, James moved to Michigan, where many of his fondest memories were made.
He later settled in Orange County, California, where he spent the remainder of his adult life and …
