James's obituary
James F. Ballard III (Jim), 74, of Clay Springs, Arizona, passed to the Lord September 14, 2021.
He was born January 6, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia to James F. and Loraine W. (Leary) Ballard. His father was a decorated Army Air Corp veteran who served during World War II. His mother was retired as a State of Arizona employee. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1957 from Virginia. Jim graduated from Cortez High School in 1965 and also attended Glendale Community College.
He was an experienced Automotive Machinist, his career spanning over 40 years, specializing in custom car, hot rod rebuilding and other machine shop work. His hobbies were camping, fishing, and trips to all of the national forests in northern Arizona. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking. He was a caring, sweet, gentle and selfless man who always gave of himself to help others however he could at a moment’s notice.
Jim married Pamela J. Powers on November 7, 1969, and were married almost 53 yrs. He was a wonderful father and devoted husband to his wife. He is survived by his wife, Pam; his brother, Robert (Bob)/Kathy Ballard; daughter, Lorraine/Ken Brodzinski; son, James F. Ballard IV/Chrisenta Stewart, and his beloved granddaughter, Megan E. Ballard and the extended family of Powers, Rice and Ballard in Arizona and Virginia.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the many dear friends he welcomed into his life. A private memorial service has been arranged by family. In lieu of flowers Jim asked that donations be made to his favorite charity to benefit those in need:
The Salvation Army USA.
