James Austin Tipton, age 63, of Flint Michigan, passed away on May 14,2025, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. 

James moved to Limestone, TN as a child with Sharron and Lawrence Tipton and spent nearly all his years in the home he helped his father build. He retired from DTR of TN, a motor vehicle manufacturing company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit. He deeply loved his wife, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and his three beloved dogs; Charlie Brown, Karen Anne, and Cola who were his closest companions.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Evangeline Tipton; his sister Gloria Groenzinger; stepchildren, Ralph Vanorsdale and Dawn Hereford; grandchildren, Donovan Vanorsdale, Jaiden Besaw, Roxey Besaw, and Donald Wise, and his longest friend and confidant, Phylis Chandler; along with many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward. 

James was preceded in death by his biological parents, Walter Lee Sr. and Harriet Jane Curtis; his adoptive parents, Sharron and Lawrence Tipton; his siblings, Walter Lee Jr., Tony Tipton, and Karen Hand; and his step-daughter, Contessa Besaw.

James will be remembered for his devotion to family, his warm heart and the love he gave so freely.
