How you can help
Unfortunately, life has thrown us an unexpected curveball, and as a result, we lost a wonderful man. James Allen Cannon was known by many different names: Al, Alpo, Allen, Bowhunter, brother, husband, and Popaw, to name a few. This man was known in so many different ways by so many different people. He would try and help anyone the best he could.
On January 17th, he was rushed to the hospital for being unresponsive. He was transferred from our local hospital to Roanoke to Carilion Memorial Hospital. He spent 10 full days in ICU, having multiple surgeries and procedures done in an attempt to save his life. Through all of the efforts of his wonderful care teams, he gained his angel wings on January 27th. He suffered a brain aneurysm, multiple strokes, and two different brain bleeds. He gave it all he had to stay with us, but the damage was just too much.
Unfortunately, he did not have life insurance to help with the cost of his final expenses. Dad did not want a funeral, so we will proceed with his wishes of cremation and a celebration of life at a later date. We are currently trying to make arrangements so that we can bring him home to us. We want to thank you for everything everyone has done for his family during this very difficult time; it is appreciated more than you ever know. Contribute
