Jade's obituary

Jade Steven Loney was born on December 1, 1987, and died by suicide on August 8, 2025.

He is survived by his father, Steve Loney, his sisters, Taylor Bougere and Rhea Loney, and his nieces, Eva Loney and Kennedy Bougere. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelda Sherrod, whom he cared for diligently until her passing in 2022.

From an early age, Jade had a fascination and love for cars, trucks, fireworks, camping, and boats of all kinds.

He was always adventurous at heart, and in recent years he found joy and comfort with the sailboats and ships of Seattle, dreaming of sailing off on his own boat someday.

Jade spent most of his adult career dedicated to the task of helping others. He served as a firefighter, worked in a homeless youth center, took on fire inspection and safety roles, and later worked in restoration and maintenance.  He was always providing  help and care to those in need.  His commitment to others was a defining part of who he was.

Jade will be remembered by his infectious smile, sharp common sense, boundless curiosity, and deep love of books. He found steady friendship in his boxer, Phoenix, who was by his side for the past eleven years.

Jade’s life was a gift.  His memory will be present in those he knew and the many lives he touched.

Jade's surviving family members hope his memory can be a reminder of the importance of connection with the ones who love you and the importance of reaching out in times of need. If you or anyone you know is struggling, please reach out for help. Dial 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

There will be a memorial planned in the summer of 2026.
