Our most sincere and deepest condolences to Jackie's family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time.  Thank you, Jackie, for your help in getting Choosy Bookworm off the ground.  Your ideas and comments helped us to grow and learn.  Your books were always amazing.  And, we loved your heart for authors.  You will be greatly missed.
Jackie was one of the first people to help me when I wrote my first book. I didn't know anything. Didn't have a group of peers to bounce ideas off of. And I was just flying blind. I will always be grateful for how kind she was to me. Rest easy, Jackie. You made a difference in my life.

When I first entered Jackie’s “eNovAaW” Facebook group, not only was I introduced to such talented and supportive authors, I was immediately grateful for Jackie’s welcome and helpful tips. To me, she seemed to be both really sharp and a no-nonsense kind of person, who could answer questions in a nano-second. But I soon saw how deeply she cared for us writers and that always warmed my heart.

My very best to her family. So glad you had her in your lives.

My deepest  condolences to the family. Jackie was an enigma. I met her very early in my author career and she offered much-needed guidance with such kindness I never forgot. She will be missed.
What a life well lived from these lovely tributes to Jackie. I was part of the early ENovel Authors, and I was also a fan of her early Harlequins: On A Wing and a Prayer was one of my fav stories ever. I remember emailing her when i joined the group, asking "Are you THE Jackie Weger?"  Fangirl moment!
It's with a heavy heart that I heard the news. Jackie was an inspiration and a friend. We worked together on a few writing projects, and I couldn't have asked for a better mentor. She regaled me with her stories and memories of her many adventures. Even though I hadn't heard from her in a while, I'll miss her. My condolences to those she left behind.
I'm sorry for your loss. Jackie was a special person and blessed many lives.
Jackie was an amazing woman and a generously giving soul. Back in the mid 10s when I started out, she invited me to join her exceptional author's group, Enovel Authors at Work (eNovAaW), much to my amazement. My heart sang to be introduced to a community of savvy and giving authors, and Jackie kept us all close, like chicks to a mother hen. Every day, she would generously give her time to us all, either in our Facebook group or individually, to provide both professional advice and even listen to our personal troubles and give comfort. She also provided the laughs in the group, forever having us in stitches with the mention of her notorious 'snake gun!' Those were amazing times, and I count myself lucky to have known Jackie, both as a mentor and online 'mother' of sorts, for many years. I had the opportunity to help grow her X (then, Twitter) account and to edit several of her fabulous stories. Jackie wrote sassy women who took no BS and had a brave heart - a hard shell that protected the gooey center inside. Her heroines were just like her... God bless your soul, Jackie... I missed you terribly in the latter years when you had withdrawn from publishing, and that put a gradual end to eNovAaW, as you were the glue that kept it together. Now, I am rejoicing that you are finally rested, back to an able, young body. Always the eager traveler and adventurer, I am sure you have a lot of discovering to do in the Heavenly Places. Rest in peace, and enjoy, dear friend!
My condolences to the family of this beautiful lady. I enjoyed reading whatever books of hers I could get my hands onto in English and Spanish and it was amazing how they could make you feel all of the emotions in 1 story. I remember one I actually cried while reading. She was an amazing writer! Luckily she leaves those words behind for us to enjoy. Thanks Jackie for your gift of writing. It was beautiful to read your stories each time.

Jackie lived the kind of life most people only dream about—full of courage, curiosity, and an unshakable creative spirit. She didn’t just write stories; she gathered them from every corner of the world and shared them generously with all of us. As a fellow writer and friend, I’ll always admire her fearless approach to both life and the page, and the way she lifted others along the way.

Her voice, her wit, and her boundless imagination leave a lasting imprint, but so does her kindness and spunk. Jackie reminded us that it’s never too late to chase something new, to keep learning, and to keep creating. She will be deeply missed, warmly remembered, and forever celebrated in the stories she leaves behind.

So sorry for your loss.  She touched so many strangers hearts.  She will be sorely missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

Jackie’s Gift

There are some people who pass through our lives quietly, without fanfare, and yet leave footprints so deep they can never be washed away. Jackie was one of those rare souls.

At eighty-six, she had lived a life rich in wisdom, compassion, and generosity, and though she is gone now, I know there will never be a day I do not carry her kindness with me.

Jackie came into my life not simply as a fellow writer, but as something far greater—a steady hand in a storm, a voice of calm when the world became cruel. In the world of Indie publishing, where friendships can sometimes prove fragile under pressure, Jackie showed me what true loyalty looks like.

There was a season in my writing life when I became the target of a vicious troll attack. What began as one cruel voice grew into many, a pack mentality fueled by malice and cowardice. It was one of the hardest times I have ever endured as an author. The attacks were relentless, and the hurt cut deeper than I ever expected.

What wounded me most was not just the cruelty of strangers, but the silence of people I thought were friends. Many other authors turned away, afraid that standing beside me might bring the trolls upon themselves. I cannot entirely blame them—fear is powerful—but their absence left a loneliness I will never forget.

Jackie did not turn away.

She stood beside me when others stepped back.

She offered encouragement when I was battered and weary. She reminded me that cruelty only has power if we surrender to it. When I doubted myself, Jackie believed in me enough for both of us.  That was simply who she was.

Jackie helped anyone who needed it. She had a heart that made room for everyone.

One of the greatest honors she ever gave me was entrusting me with something deeply personal: the outline and characters for a book she had long wanted to write herself. She placed them in my hands because she believed I could bring them to life.

I remember how humbled I felt when she gave me that gift. It was more than pages and notes—it was trust. It was faith. It was Jackie saying, in her own gentle way, I believe in your voice enough to place my dream in your care.

That is who Jackie was.

She gave freely.

She encouraged generously.

In a world where so many hold tightly to their talents, their ideas, and their affections, Jackie shared hers like sunlight—warmly, naturally, and without hesitation.

She was truly one of a kind.

The literary world may remember her for her writing, but I will remember her for something even greater: her heart.

And though she has now gone beyond the reach of this world, I imagine her still as she always was—gracious, wise, and quietly helping someone find their way.

Some people write stories.

Jackie was one.

I really don't even know where to start! Jackie and I have been friends for nearly fifteen years. I just went through my emails dating back to 2013--3,940!!!! It is not an exaggeration to say that I talked to Jackie more than my mother--more than nearly any person I know.Nope! We've never met in person, but I feel closer to Jackie than nearly any woman I've ever known on this earth. Not only through email and texts, but I've also had the wonderful pleasure of reading and updating her classic romances. Man, could that woman write!!! She never failed to make me laugh, shed a tear, and learn something. Her books always had strong heroines--like her--and the women always overcame--like her! I'm going to miss hearing about her crazy kitties and who she plans to take out with her snake gun. :)Truly, my world is better for having known this wonderful woman!I will miss you, Jackie!I love you with all my heart.Carmen DeSousaXoXo
