Jacque was amazing at her job and knew how to work with even the most stubborn of clients with grace and kindness. Andrew and Jacque had a rough start, sizing each other up, but quickly found a groove and went right to work.
One day, Andrew started the process of seeing what he could get away with all over again. She practiced patience, and as the weeks became more difficult, this is where our story begins.
Jacque was having Andrew work on his vocabulary.
“What’s it called when you eat in the evening? The last meal of the day?”
Pause.....“Dinner” he said excitedly.
“Nice!” "OK what’s it called if I was pouring water in a cup and didn’t stop when it was full? What would happen?”
Andrew sighed, “I don’t know”
“Sure ya do, pretend I’m filling up your cup with coffee and when it’s full, I just keep pouring. What would happen?”
“I don’t know” He now said, with more sass.
“Come on buddy. You can do it.”
“I don’t know.”
“OK, I have an idea. Follow me to the sink.“ Jacque led the way and showed Andrew the bathroom sink.
She closed the drain and turned on the water. “Ok Andrew, what do you think will happen if I just leave the sink running?”
“I don’t know!” Now he was glaring.
“Ok,” Jacque said, “Guess we will wait and see…”
The silence could’ve been cut with a knife as we watched the water raise up to the edge of the sink.
Jacque very calmly then said, “Also Andrew, whatever does happen. You will be cleaning up…”
“OVERFLOW!!!! It’s going to overflow!!!!” Andrew yelled.
He knew he was beat. Jacque turned off the water, let it drain and simply said, “Nice job! Ok, let’s get back to our word list” and they went back to work at the table as though nothing had ever happened. Jacque was amazing and our family loves and misses her very much. Our prayers and hugs go out to her family.
