Jacob's obituary

Jacob (Jack) Lee States was born on July 13, 1995, in Blackwell Oklahoma. Ironically, he was born on a Friday, which served as a joke throughout his life. Jacob joined his friends and family in Heaven on April 6, 2022.

Jacob grew up in Medford Oklahoma and always called it home. Jacob attended Medford Public School for thirteen years plus one extra because Mrs. Grover loved him so much, she decided to keep him an extra year.

Jacob loved sports and was an avid OSU fan. He also watched the OKC Thunder and Dallas Cowboys faithfully. Jacob was involved with sports from an early age, and sports were always an important part of his life. Jacob dreamed of being a coach and helping enrich other kids lives the way his coaches had enriched his. Jacob loved all sports but always favored basketball. He spent many evenings in the gym and park court playing basketball with his friends. He always had a spare ball and shoes in his car. Jacob never had to be the best, he just loved to be a part of the team. When Jacob was a Senior, he decided to go out for track, as this was the only sport he hadn’t tackled before graduation. He tried out the high jump and found his niche as he held the state record for a while and attended the state track meet that year.

In April 2021, “Jack” met the love of his life while working at the Medford Nursing Home. Shannan and Jack started dating in May 2021. She had two boys, Brantley and Baker that Jack clicked with almost instantly. They went on zoo trips and park adventures all summer long. In August, they found out that Shannan was pregnant with their baby boy. They moved to Pond Creek in October and began their life that they have always wanted. They both knew they were meant to be. They loved each other so deeply and on March 18, 2022, Jack proposed to Shannan in their home. They were planning to get married in April 2023.

Jacob is survived by his fiancé Shannan, son Britton Luke, and Brantley and Baker of the home. He is also survived by his father Marvin States of Alva, Oklahoma and mother Robin Logan and husband Phillip of Blackwell Oklahoma; brothers Josef States of Alva and Bradley States (children Harlie and Judah) of Yukon; Sister Alexis Wilson (son Kilvin) of Ponca City, Step brother Phillip Logan and wife Faith (daughters Valerie and Aria ) of Ponca City and Stepsister Shelia logan (fiancé Jason Scott) of Ponca City. He is also survived by his beloved grandmother Lora Ramsey of Medford Oklahoma and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his faithful dog Beyonce.

Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bob Ramsey, maternal great grandparents Benjamin and Lucille Scott., paternal grandmother Carol Seats, paternal great grandmother Ella Brehmer, paternal grandfather LeRoy States, paternal great grandfather Marvin States, and paternal great grandmother Christena States.

Memorials may be made to the go fund me account set up for his family or donations made to the Medford school for use for the basketball team equipment.
