Jack's obituary

Jack Lee Waugh, 63, passed away on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on August 30th, 1957 in Garden City, the second son of Vernon Robert Waugh And Mary H. (Glenn) Waugh.

He is survived by 2 siblings - Vernon Robert "Bob" Waugh (Russell) and Sally Anne Waugh (Dighton). 6 children - Brian Lee Waugh, Sr. (Garden City), Veronica Rae Kennon (Chandler, TX), Christina Marie (Mike) Kerls (Topeka), Amanda Rene (J.R.) Darcy (Spearville), Jerry Lee Waugh (Salina), and Alexander Henry Waugh (Salina). 12 grandchildren - Brian Lee Jr., William Christopher, Trisha Anne, Hunter Paul, Brady Kincaid, Harley Marie, Adler Madeline, Evan James, Noah Ryan, Harrison Glenn, Emma-Lee Athena, and Avery James. A great-granddaughter Paislee Grace. As well as his first wife, and long-time friend, Tami Wells (Garden City).

Jack grew up in Dighton and the surrounding area. He joined the United States Marine Corps. as soon as he was legally able to. After his time in the Marine Corps., he spent his life doing carpentry work and welding. He was extremely passionate about the martial arts, working his way to becoming both a 3rd degree black belt in in Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo and a 1st degree black belt in Kudokan Jiu Jitsu. Jack passed this love along by becoming a teacher, even to his own children. He loved reading what he could get his hands on, and being a lover of science, that often involved books on physics, space, and Star Trek.

Jack loved telling jokes, the dirtier the better. Sometimes, with his stern demeanor and dry sense of humor, you almost couldn't tell if he was joking or not. Then he would crack just the tiniest of grins before letting out his unforgettable, body-shaking laugh. If he didn't give you some kind of hell, then he probably didn't like you. He lived a far more interesting life than can be put to paper, but he always found a way to laugh himself through it.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister - Mary Louise Waugh, and his second wife, Charlene (Osvald) Waugh.

Funeral services to be announced at a later date. If you wish to send flowers, please contact Heather Mathews at (785) 515-8999 for forwarding information.
