John “Jack”'s obituary

John E. "Jack" Snook, 98, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, in Oak Glen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewisburg, after living a full and fascinating life defined by service, generosity and unwavering kindness.

John was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Lewistown, a son of the late Russell S. and Elizabeth M. (Erdley) Snook. On Sept, 24, 1955, he married Patricia O. Snook who preceded him in death.

He was a 1945 graduate of Lewistown High School and then proudly joined and served in the United States Navy. Following his return from the military he earned his bachelor's degree from Albright College and then received his Masters of Divinity from Albright Seminary.

John was a Pastor and ministered until his retirement in 1977. He then worked for the Northumberland County Drug and Alcohol Office.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

John was known for opening his heart and home to others, always ready to lend a hand or offer support wherever it was needed. Whether through his longtime involvement with the Little League World Series, his participation in mission activities, or simply stepping up to fill a need in his community. John dedicated his life to serving others with humility and grace.

He is survived by his three daughters, Rebecca Phillips, Melissa Ferguson (James), Amy Bickhart (Roger Knecht); grandchildren, Jon, Sarah, Ryan, Emily, Dillon, Brittany, Andrew, Connor and Garrett; great-grandchildren Mason, Asher, Colin, Milena, Maren, Orli and Zayn, and one brother Norman "Pete" Snook.
