Jack W. Hazlewood

Jack W. Hazlewood was born on September 26, 1943, and passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the age of 82.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). He served with honor in the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Battalion, 325th Infantry Brigade, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Jack’s military occupational specialty was 31G – Army Tactical Communications Chief (Enlisted). In this role, he planned, coordinated, and supervised the installation, operation, and unit-level maintenance of ground FM radio and field wire communication systems, including teletypewriter sets, switchboard and radio systems, and communications for both air and ground operations. He also served with B Company, U.S. Mail Room, Justice. His service reflected exceptional leadership, technical expertise, discipline, and dedication.
Jack was awarded the Airborne Parachutist Badge, the National Defense Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
In 1965, Jack married the love of his life, Linda Hazlewood, after the two met on the Army base at Fort Bragg. They soon moved back to Houston to be closer to family, where they built their life together.
Early in his working years, Jack worked installing glass, demonstrating the strong work ethic that defined his life. He later spent 30 years working at the Monsanto Plant, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and pride in his work.
Beyond his service and career, Jack found joy in simple pleasures. He loved being on the water, had a deep love for boats, and also enjoyed riding motorcycles, embracing the freedom and adventure they brought him.
For the last two and a half years, Jack courageously fought cancer, remaining strong and continuing to push forward through every challenge. He is remembered as the rock of his family, always taking care of everyone and offering love, guidance, and support.
Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Hazlewood; his parents, Pete and June Hazlewood; and his brother-in-law, Roy Kimmel.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie Hazlewood, Mike Hazlewood, and Michelle Moore (and her spouse, Greg); his sister, Theda Kinmel; and his grandchildren, Alexandra Moore, Brittany Hazlewood, Emily Moore, Sarah Moore, and Samantha Hazlewood.
Jack W. Hazlewood’s legacy of service, strength, sacrifice, and love will live on through his family and all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
