Jack's obituary
Jack Eugene Jensen was born on April 4th, 1943, in Bremerton, Washington. He was the firstborn son of Raymond and Elizabeth Jensen. A couple of years later Jack became a big brother to Chuck Jensen.
Jack ‘s family eventually left the state of Washington to return to their roots in Pontiac, Illinois where he attended Pontiac Township High School. He remained lifelong friends with several of his classmates. Upon graduation he was off to college at Eastern Illinois University where Jack earned a BS in Marketing while working as many as three jobs at once to help pay for his education. While in college he married the mother of his daughters, Dorothy Jensen. His daughters, Chris and Jacki are blessed beyond measure to call Jack their dad!
In 1974 Jack was offered a job transfer to North Carolina. The majority of Jack’s career was in the livestock industry selling feed to farmers all over eastern North Carolina, one of his customers became Smithfield Foods. Jack worked for Nutrena Feeds, The Carl S Akey Co, and Classic Seafood Group in the aquaculture industry. Over the years Jack won numerous Top Producer awards including a couple trips to Europe. He continued to work after his retirement because he was not one for sitting around. Jack was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan, never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. The best Dad, Grandfather and Friend you could imagine.
He leaves behind his brother Charles Jensen and wife Beverly, daughters Christina Jensen Freeze and Jacqueline Jensen Sullivan with her husband Greg. His beloved grandchildren are James Freeze, Jensen Freeze, Kelsey Sullivan Halligan, and her husband Will, Chad Sullivan and Annie Sullivan. He has one amazing great granddaughter, Layla Freeze.
A Celebration of Jack’s Friendships will be held Sunday, July 7th from 3:00-5:00 at one of his favorite hangouts, Sharks-N-Shooters 4470 Sunset Ave. Rocky Mount, NC 27804
The family will have a private service at a later date.
