J. Jason's obituary
J Jason Thomas of Longmont Colorado was born on September 18, 1967. He died from complications due to COVID in 2021. He was 53 years old. Jason grew up in Boulder Colorado where he attended Fairview High School and went on to study Finance at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He is survived by his son Nick Thomas. Jason was very proud of his son and said that he gave his life meaning.
Jason was fun loving and adventurous with an easy laugh. His easy-going manner contributed to his very successful career as a mortgage broker and eventual rise to a position of Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Guaranteed Rate. Financially savvy, Jason paid off his house within ten years of graduating from college. Despite all his accomplishments, Jason remained humble. He once said he didn’t like to brag, except for when it came to talking about his exceptional son, Nick.
Jason valued relationships and made every effort to stay in touch with his friends. He was a regular attendee of one of his friend’s annual “Groundhog Day” parties where he brought his enthusiasm and positive energy, and he always enjoyed a good game of golf. During his free time Jason played Knighthood online with his friends. You may have received a message from him imploring you to "Please accept the Knighthood offer I sent you, because I need more vassals with power." He also enjoyed action-adventure movies and attended the theater to watch movies like Cowboys and Aliens, Captain America and Planet of the Apes. At Christmas time Jason created a thoughtful and enjoyable gift that reflected friendship and a love for rock music with his annual Rock Christmas CD, featuring songs such as Run-Run Rudolph by Lemmy or a heavy metal version of Silver Bells, which he said was “powerful.”
Jason liked to try new things and in 2010 he took Skydiving lessons and then did an assisted solo jump which he found scary but exhilarating. That same year he also bought a boat and enjoyed taking his family and friends on boat rides at Glendo Reservoir in Wyoming in the summertime.
Jason once said that "God has blessed us all richly, we just don't always pay attention to the blessing." Rest in Peace Jason. You are gone but not forgotten. We were blessed to have known you.
