J. Allen's obituary

J. Allen Ginn III was born on December 3, 1956 and passed away on February 3, 2026 at the age of 69. Phoenix was always home to Allen and is the city where he grew up and spent the majority of his life.

In his younger years, Allen was an avid basketball player and was affectionately known by the nickname “Bird,” a reflection of both his athleticism and playful personality. That same dedication, resilience, and charm stayed with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving children Clinton, Brice and Courtney, in addition to his daughter in law Cori. Allen’s loved grandchildren were Griffin, Wren and Autumn. He is also survived by his sister’s Eden and Ashleigh, and cousins Steve, David, Gloria, Karen, Cindy, Sandy, Dey and Carol. His close friends Judy and Roger were also important parts of his life and provided opportunity, care and support that meant so much to him.

Allen is now reunited with his parents, J. Allen Ginn Jr. and Anne Anderson Ginn, beloved sister Carolyn, and many other cherished family members and four legged friends.

Allen will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, love for animals, and playful sense of humor. He was often described by those who knew him as having a heart of gold. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Those wishing to honor Allen’s memory may consider a donation to Breakthrough T1D, supporting research to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes and its complications.

Private services will be held to celebrate Allen’s life and legacy.
