Ira's obituary
Ira Stanley Warheit died on Monday, January 6, 2025 surrounded by his two loving children at The Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Northern Dallas.
Ira was born on January 5, 1944 in Coney Island Brooklyn to parents Mina nee Cohen and Henry Warheit. After moving from Coney Island, he grew up in Gravesend, Brooklyn. Among the many sports that Ira played, some of his fondest memories were from playing football at Brooklyn Technical High School. He remained a fan and supporter of their football program along with many other Brooklyn youth sports leagues for his entire life. He graduated Brooklyn College and went on to graduate from NYU College of Dentistry.
Ira served as an officer in The Navy during the Vietnam War. After which, he became a pacifist. After serving, he continued his career as a dentist and eventually became a periodontist. For many years, he owned a practice in Staten Island, NY.
Ira was predeceased by his parents, Mina and Henry Warheit. He leaves behind his children, Eric (Jennifer) Warheit, and Allison (Michael) Hogan; four granddaughters, Evie, Ellie, Clare, and Birdie; and his brother, Steven (Mont) Warheit. In lieu of flowers, please buy a meal for a homeless person.
