Ira's obituary

Ira Charles Robinson, 81 yo, of Brandon, Florida went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2022. On August 27, 1940 Ira was born in Webster, Florida to William Levy and Mary Lee (Howard) Robinson whom he affectionately called The Richest Little Share-Croppers on Earth. Following his Mills High School graduation as Class Valedictorian in 1956, Ira successfully completed the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree at Florida A & M University in 1961. However, the greatest blessing he received while at FAMU was meeting the woman with whom he would share 59 years of marriage, Clarice Elizabeth James.

During the early 1960s Ira worked as a pharmacist in black-owned community pharmacies located in Florida and Alabama. Dissatisfaction with the community pharmacy practice, along with his hunger for an alternate career path in pharmacy, paved the way for graduate studies. He attended the University of Florida from 1963 to 1966 earning the Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) with a major in Industrial Pharmacy and twin minors in Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry and in Industrial & Systems Engineering.

Dr. Ira C. Robinson’s hunger for alternate career paths in pharmacy was well fed with a career consisting of being a Pharmaceutical Research and Development Scientist at Chas. Pfizer & Co. (Pfizer), Professor of Pharmacy and Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Florida A & M University, Professor of Pharmacy and Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Howard University, Owner-President and CEO of Universal Pharmaceutical Systems, Scientific Affairs Officer in the Office of International Health at Charles Drew Postgraduate School of Medicine, Pharmacist at National RX Services (Merck-Medco), International Health Consultant, and Author/Publisher.

Ira was predeceased by his parents, five brothers (William Levy, Jr., George, Raymond, Earl and Damon), four sisters (Rosa, Ernestine, Delores, and Althea) and one daughter (Patricia). He is survived by his wife Clarice, three children Ira II (Karen), Krishwin (Tiwana) and Charmalyn (Eric); seven grandchildren Ira III, Kira, Kristia, El-Hajj Malik, Krish George, Erica and Amani; one great grandchild Ava; three sisters Lillie, Ella and Ida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
