Ioannis's obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ioannis "John" Pikramenos, fondly known as John, on July 14, 2023. Born on December 21, 1939, Ioannis lived a full and vibrant life.
Ioannis is survived by his loving daughters, Joanna Pikramenos Lombardi, Evangelia Pikramenos Grigoropoulos, and Stella Pikramenos Gotsis. He was the proud grandparent to Demetrios Pikramenos Grigoropoulos, Christina Olga Gotsis, Victoria Gotsis, Olga Nicole Gotsis, John Edward Lombardi, and Marina Pikramenos Lombardi. His extended family also includes Lori Ann Mallia who was also like a daughter to him and Marilyn Egna, a family friend of many years. Ioannis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Olga Giannadakis Pikramenos, and son-in-law, Anthony Alfred Lombardi.
Ioannis married the love of his life, Olga, in 1968, and the pair moved to Astoria, Queens, NY a year later. Their family continued to grow with the birth of their three children in 1969, 1970, and 1981, the joys of Ioannis's life. He retired in 1998, after a successful career owning his contracting company, S&V painters.
Ioannis was a man of simple pleasures. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed ice-cold water and lemonade. He loved watching the Greek News, fishing, cooking, playing cards, and dining out. His favorite pastime was walking around Astoria, and his favorite vacation spots were Greenport, NY, and Greece. Ioannis was a devoted patron of local spots, such as McDonalds, Benihanas, Smash Burger, and Dunkin Donuts.
A man of deep kindness, Ioannis was an advocate for animal welfare. His life was marked by his jovial, generous, sarcastic, kind, loving, and caring personality. He believed in choosing laughter over tears, helping others without judgment, and living life free from the worry of others' opinions.
Despite having to leave school at the age of 9 to sell ice to survive, Ioannis's drive and hard work led him to open a successful contracting company. He raised three beautiful and kind daughters, a testament to his dedication and love. His legacy continues to remind us that no one is perfect, and our duty is to extend help and kindness whenever we can.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to "North Shore Animal League America". Ioannis will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his loss leaves a void that cannot be filled. His life was a gift to this world, and his memory will forever be a blessing.
