WHETZEL, Ida Mae, of Elkton, Virginia formally of Richmond, Virginia went to be with the Lord at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the age of 60. Ida Mae was born on February 20, 1960 in Richmond, Virginia.

Ida Mae loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She had a love for cats. Her family will always remember her as a loving sister, mother, aunt and most importantly grandmother.

Preceded in death by her parents Ida Inez Powers, John and Catherine Miller; siblings Stella Phillips, Delores Phillips, and Vernon “Bobby” Powers.

She is survived by her children Juanita Mae Vandine (Bron) of Weyers Cave, VA and Christopher Dowhan of San Diego, CA; her siblings Morris Phillips Sr (Mae-Claire) of Honolulu, HI, James Phillips of Rocky Mount, Va, Judith “Judy” Phillips of Henrico, VA, Charles Fowler III (Leah) of Mechanicsville, VA, Rebecca “Becky” Yanez (Lupe) of Goose Creek, SC, Wayne Nixon of Suffolk, VA, Harold Miller (Donna) of Talboro, NC, Jewel Ritchie (Harold) of Harrisonburg, VA, John Miller (Grace) of Mount Crawford, VA, Donna Overton of Linville, VA; her grandchildren Kaylie, John and Charles of Weyers Cave, VA.

Due to COVID 19 a memorial service will be held at a later date.
