Ida's obituary

Ida was born on May 25th 1938 in Kirtland OH. The second of 4 siblings to
Clarence and Alma (Fenner) Brichford. Frances Fontes of California, Melva (Garry)
Wright of Florida and is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law John
(Joan) Brichford from Perry OH. She was raised at her family farm in Chester Ohio
and attended the West Geauga Schools system. She was a member of the 4H
sewing club, Kirtland grange, Willoughby Senior Center and Prince of Peace
Church in Mentor Ohio.
Ida and her loving husband Kenneth Sowers Sr. were married for over 64 years
and raised 6 children in their home in Willoughby where they lived for 50 years.
Karen (Arthur) Bricker, Kenneth Jr (Shelley) Sowers, Kimberly (David) McClendon,
Kay (Gerald) Fitch, Kelly (James) Spence and Kevin (Luann) Sowers, 18
grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ida loved baking for family and friends especially during the holidays. Her
Christmas cookies, Chex mix, banana and zucchini bread and apple dumplings
were enjoyed by all. Her love for children could not be matched. She baby sat and
was a second mom to all the children on their street. Ida’s legacy includes her
unending and unwavering faith in God, her unconditional love for everyone and
her patience, strength and compassion.
Calling hours for Ida will be held on Sunday July 21st at Prince of Peace located at
7193 Reynolds Rd, Mentor OH at 6:00 PM. Memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory can be made to Hospice of the
Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland OH 44192.
