God bless you all during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with.
So sad to hear of Ida’s passing. I enjoyed getting to know her. She was a spunky lady who often had me laughing at the things she would say. I will miss her♥️

Ida was a lot of things, but first and foremost, she was a top notch confidant. Any secret worth telling, was told to mema. First time I had a crush on a girl? Told Mema first. People probs wouldn't guess this seeing as she was from Louisianna and was solidly in the Christian camp, but she bucked all those labels and was an incredibly open minded lady. She let me get away with all sorts of shit too. I like to think, with tears in my eyes, that I wouldn't be half the sailor I am today if I didn't get to freely and colorfully express myself in her presence as a child 😂

When she wasn't busy actively being the bestest friend a girl ever had, she was a god damn fox (seriously, she was fiiiine) and professional/renowned oggler of pretty boys everywhere. The last conversation I had with her was on the phone a few days before she passed and she was in the hospital. The doctor was in her room actively taking her vitals. I asked if her hospital room at least had a good view. She replied, "Not in the window department, but this doctor is all the view I need." Fucking iconic.

She loved sunflowers (she had quite the green thumb in the day), good music, and astoundingly frustrating/addicting word games. She could cook her ass off and she showed me how to make the best crawfish etouffee on either side of the Mississippi. I'll think of her everytime I have it boiling down on the stove top.

To finish off, cause this could be a small novel, I'll quote a relevant line from our song I Try by Macy Gray (you know the love is real when you have a song lol):

I try to say goodbye and I choke
I try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it: its clear
My world crumbles when you are not near

Rest easy Grandma Louisianna, I'm not really sure what I'm gonna do without my main bitch by my side 🖤
