It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Howard "Pop" Foster, a man known for his determination, love, empathy, honesty, and generosity. Howard, often referred to as "Pop", passed away on August 14, 2023. Born on July 17, 1941, he lived a fulfilling life devoted to his family and community.

Howard is survived by his children, Howard A Foster III and Sonja Foster, His grandchildren, Whitney Foster, Howard Christopher Foster, Javon Aaliyah Bienemy, Shavonda Strawder, Erica Wise, Howard A Foster,  Antonio Foster,  survive him. He also leaves behind his older brother, Leonard Washington. Family was always the cornerstone of Howard's life, and these individuals will carry his memory forward.

Howard was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, De Ella Lewis Foster. He was also predeceased by his father, Howard Foster Sr; his mother, Loretta Washington; his siblings, Laura Williams and Joseph Washington; and his daughters, Veda Foster and Nicole Foster. 

The respect of his community and his devoted family are enduring tributes to Howard's life. He led by example, emphasizing the importance of a strong work ethic, loving your family, and staying true to oneself. He lived by code of: If they say you can't do it Show them you can. 

 His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Howard's life will be celebrated on August 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM. The celebration will be held at Stalling Gym  4300 St Claude Ave. This celebration will honor Howard's life and the profound impact he had on those around him.

While we will miss Howard, we take comfort in knowing that he will be remembered with love and respect. His legacy will continue to guide us, reminding us of the values he held dear. We are forever grateful for the time we had with Howard and for the lessons he taught us.
