Howard's obituary
He was 86 years young.
Mr. Parsons served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Juneau during the Korean Conflict and sailed to 27 countries during his three years of Foreign Sea Service. After his time of service, he owned and operated Parsons Brothers Well Drilling for 44 years. He was instrumental in getting water well drillers state certified and served on the Kentucky State Certification board for 25 years. He was the first certified Master Driller in the state of Kentucky. He's been honored several honorary Engineering Certifications from University of Kentucky and numerous accolades for his accomplishments in the water industry. He was awarded Honorary Kentucky Colonel by Governor Julian Carrol in 1978.
Mr. Parsons was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was an amazing father, husband and family man with a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed nature, learning new trades, teaching new skills and humming while he worked and drove. He was a great storyteller and had a vibrant laugh with a gentle heart. He was a role model inspiring his loved ones everyday. He loved bringing joy to others.
Mr. Parsons is survived by his daughter Kathy Owens and husband James (Eddie) Owen of Jasper, AL and his sister Sina Balltrap of Lexington, KY. He has six grandchildren, Howard III, James E. Owens III, Amanda Humber, Rebeccah Owens, Jarrod Owens, and Shannon Owens. He leaves behind a beloved family friend Mike Williams, many beloved cousins and 11 great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he adored, and they adored him.
Mr. Parsons has been cremated. A remembrance day in his honor will be celebrated when the spread of COVID-19 has slowed and it's safe for family and friends to attend per his wishes. His remains will be buried with his beloved wife, Marie, at Rest Haven in Loyall, Kentucky.
