Howard's obituary

Howard “Coach” McKee of Old Lyme is resting in God’s loving embrace where his 91 years here on earth were complete. Born in 1927 in Wethersfield, Connecticut to John and Sue McKee, he was predeceased by his parents and brothers, John and William. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the pacific. After the war he graduated from Arnold College and had a successful career teaching physical education and coaching many champion soccer and track teams. He was active in his beloved church where his beautiful bass voice added to the choir. He was best known for the hundreds of children he influenced at his Burr Brook day camp in Chester, CT. In 1954 he married Barbara, his wife and companion of more than 65 years. He was so proud of his children, Dan (Cindy) of Woodbridge, Peter (Jody) of Old Saybrook, Paul (Teresa) of East Lyme and Bonnie Hunter of Deep River. His 7 grandchildren are Tyler and Danielle, Erin and Ryan, Matthew, Zack and Travis, and 5 great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 12th at 11am at the Deep River Congregational Church. Private burial will be in the church memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Deep River Congregational Church in his name.
