Howard's obituary

Howard A. Baker Jr, 66, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed Sunday, February 02, 2020 at the house he was born in of natural causes. Howard was born to Howard and Alice Baker on December 15, 1953. He grew in Mt. View playing baseball in the empty lot next door almost daily in the summer. There were also a lot of neighborhood pickup football games and snowball fights. He started tinkering with old cars at a very early age. That is when his love of cars started and stayed with him throughout his life. He started working at the Bicycle shop for Mike Shupe when he was about 15. He then moved to the Polaris shop on post road where he assembled and repaired snow machines. Howard learned a lot working for Mr. Shupe and it went a long way to making him the man he turned out to be. In the mid 70's Howard worked at various pipeline camps as a Teamster. After the pipeline he worked as a Longshoreman at the Anchorage docks until his passing. He made many long term friends among his fellow Longshoreman.
Howard regularly flew outside to attend Nascar races and rarely missed a Hot August Nights in Reno. He enjoyed snow machining and four wheeling with his brothers. Including many memorable long distance trips. Howard was a very special person and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Howard was preceded in death by his father Howard Sr. and mother Alice Baker, two sisters Lydia and Susan and two siblings that died during childbirth, Donna and Raymond. He is survived by his brothers Richard (Robin), Thomas, Steven (Laura), Robert and his sister Deborah Abercrombie. Aunts Nancy and Irene. Many Nieces and nephews including the two he was closest to, Allison and Bristyl.
Howard will be buried at Angelus Memorial Park. We will schedule a celebration of life when the current situation subsides and it is safe to do so.
