Horst's obituary
Horst was the third child of Gottlob and Mathilde Trautmann, born on June 11, 1941, in Pfullingen, Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. At age 18, he sailed to Australia where he lived for three years. In 1962, he came to America and settled in Livingston, NJ. He was married in 1965 to Charlotte Myers of Union. They raised their children in Union and Clark.
He was a carpenter by trade, and in 1972, he began his long career with PSE&G in Newark, from which he retired after 30 years. He proudly earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from Kean College.
He was a proud father and grandfather – his family was his greatest joy. He enjoyed many travels with them, both in the United States and abroad, and even made a return trip to Australia when he retired. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and was a longstanding member of the Deutscher Club of Clark.
Horst was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte (2018), son-in-law Michael Ciuba of Clark (2013), and by his sister, Gretel Weiblen (2015), brother-in-law, Gerhard Weiblen, and nieces, Heike Trautmann (1980) and Christel Weiblen (1993) all of Germany.
He is survived by two loving children: Eric Trautmann (Denise) of Colonia, and Jennifer Ciuba of Linden; his five grandchildren: George Bogner, Kaitlin Ciuba, Avery, Miranda, and Sophia Trautmann, and sister-in-law, Pamelia Myers (Joe McGuire) of Colonia.
In Germany, he leaves behind a brother, Gottlob Trautmann (AnnaMarie), nephews, Bernd and Martin, and nieces, Sabine, Dagmar, and Anette, as well as cousins.
