Holden's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Holden Rodriguez-Almonte, who left this world far too soon on February 7th 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on March 7, 2011, in Chicago, Illinois, Holden was a vibrant soul who brought joy and light to everyone around him. His life was a testament to kindness, creativity, and the unbreakable bonds of family and friendship.
Holden was the beloved son of Adalina Rodriguez-Almonte and Wilkin Rodriguez-Almonte. He is survived by his cherished siblings and soul sibilings, River Davis, Maria Rodriguez-Katz, and Henri Rodriguez-Katz, as well as his loving parents and extended family, including Mr. Guerrero and Alan Mai-lo Katz. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find solace in knowing that Holden is now at peace, free from the violence that tragically cut his life short.
During his young life, Holden attended Southwest Middle School and Kennedy Middle School, where he navigated the world with a curious spirit and an infectious smile. He was a proud member of the Catholic community, finding strength and comfort in his faith. Holden’s passions were as unique as he was; he loved skating, drawing, and making music. He had an undeniable fondness for Chicago, where he spent his formative years, and a special love for dogs, particularly Dobermans. Holden truly enjoyed hanging out with his best friend, River, creating memories that will forever be cherished.
Those who knew Holden often remarked on his remarkable qualities. He was described as kind and compassionate, a soul sibling to those closest to him, understanding friends in a way that seemed to transcend words. "They were my soul sibling—the person who knew me better than I knew myself," one friend recalled. Holden was a force of nature—loud, chaotic, and unapologetically himself, embracing life with a passion that inspired others. He left a treasure of memories in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we celebrate Holden's life, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Atrium Healthcare for the compassionate care they provided during his final moments. Their dedication to Holden’s comfort and dignity will always be remembered.
In honor of Holden, let us carry forward the love, creativity, and joy he shared so freely. May we remember to embrace life with the same intensity and authenticity that he exemplified. Holden Rodriguez-Almonte may have been taken from us too soon, but his spirit will forever resonate in our hearts.
A private funeral service will be held to honor his memory, allowing family and close friends the opportunity to reflect on the beautiful moments shared with Holden.
Rest in peace, dear Holden. Your journey continues in the hearts of all who loved you.
