Hildagardeis Boswell, 94, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away at 6:03 AM on May 12, 2025 after an unexpected battle with gangrenous bowel at Good Samaritan Hospital. Hilda was born on January 12, 1931 to Homer Lee Boswell and Lenora Henderson Bell Boswell Washington in Daisytown, Pennsylvania. After graduation from California High in Pennsylvania, she went on to earn her BA from Morgan State College in 1961 and earned her law degree from the University of Maryland Law School. Other school affiliations were University of Pittsburgh; Barnard College; New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She worked for the State of Maryland and was a Maryland House of Delegate from 1971-1974. Private career and other public service includes Human rights specialist. Member, Board of Examiners, State Department of Personnel. Member, Model Cities Community Council. Delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1972. Founder and advisor, Freedom Democratic Club of Baltimore City, Inc. First vice chair, Director of Public Relations, and chair, 1973 Convention, National Black Women's Political Leadership Caucus. The family looked forward to her fabulous dinners at 1208 Druid Hill Avenue as she was quite the gourmet cook and fondly remembers her hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She loved to entertain and her home was the hub of many family and social events. She is survived by her sister, Joan Powell of Durham, NC, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
