Lynn's obituary

Lynn Saintignan passed away this past Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 73 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Lynn was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Harvey Wilson and Dorothy Brown on November 1, 1949. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1967. Later she would go on to attend college at the Dallas campus of Mountain View College. Not long after high school, she met the love of her life, Dale Ryan Saintignan. They wed in 1968, were married for a few months shy of 50 years and had two children. Their first, Barrie Dale Saintignan (named for her father) was born October 1969 and their second, Mark Ryan Saintignan (also named for his father) was born June 1971.

Lynn was always known for her beauty, style and sense of fashion and it bled over into her professional life. She had been a small business owner and had owned three different clothing and dress shops in Texas and Louisiana. When her children were young, she drew and painted, played guitar and she and Dale bowled. They bowled in 3 different leagues and bowled well enough that they were often invited to tournaments across Texas. Despite the fact that Lynn was missing three fingers on her right hand (the hand she bowled with) she had managed to bowl in the Texas Women’s State Championship at least twice and had won many awards for bowling 50 to 100 points over her already impressive average.

In her spare time she was singer and songwriter, having even recorded a record and appearing on the Louisiana Hayride to the delight of her family and friends. She was an avid Louisiana State University Tigers fan and never missed watching any football games. Her life was filled with much love and happiness from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended Brown family. She was a breast cancer survivor (as was her sister) and advocated for early mammograms and supported breast cancer research. She was an animal fanatic and adopted every stray dog that ever got dumped on the lake were she and Dale lived, enough so the local animal control personnel gave her enough food to feel them all since she kept them from having to be picked up and possibly euthanized. She was generous, tender-hearted, fun to be around, had a wicked sense of humor and made life more exciting, to say the least.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her sister Glenda Gay “Lou” Dickson, her brother Curtis Ray Wilson and her husband Dale Ryan Saintignan whom she missed terribly. In her last days, she mentioned often how happy she was that she was going to be reunited with him in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Barrie Dale Reid and her husband Warren, her son Mark Ryan Saintignan and his wife Tinka; grandchildren Kasey Lynn Giancaspro and her husband Joe, Randy Vaughn, Corey Vaughn and his wife Stephanie, Jessica Durbin and her husband Reece and Lillie Saintignan; great-grandchildren Tori, Lia and Danny Giancaspro and Jamie and Benji Vaughn, one nephew and three nieces and too many cousins to count.

In her final weeks, she was thrilled to have her Uncle Arvie Brown, Aunt Nela Brown Kerry and Michelle visit often and pray with her and over her. It was her final hope that no one would spend too much time being sad or crying because everything was going to be ok and she would see us again in heaven.
