Hilda Eugene gained her angel wings on March 02, 2023. Hilda was 82 years old.

She was born on October 19, 1940, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Mable Guidry and James Dowell. After attending Sacred Heart Catholic School, she received a full scholarship to McNeese State University due to her excellence in French studies. She loved art, spoke French beautifully, enjoyed studying language, and was an avid reader since childhood. 

Hilda married Frank J. Eugene in 1960 in their hometown and started a family soon after.  In support of her husband's military service, they grew their family as they moved across the country; living in Alaska, California, and Washington (state), and eventually settling in Washington, D.C. 

When Hilda was not working, she could be found at home, cooking for friends and family. She loved to nourish those around her with love, wisdom, and family recipes from her Creole upbringing in Louisiana. Not a day went by when Hilda didn't talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life. 

Hilda is survived by her loving husband, Frank Eugene, her children, Linda (Tony), Adam, and Kimberly (Vic), her grandchildren, Erin, Brittany (Dustin), and Antonio, her great-grandchildren, Jada, Shailyn, Santana, Demari, and Kaia, niece Andrea (Tim), countless friends and extended family. Hilda was predeceased by her loving daughter Allison, and resilient son, Frank Jr.
