Herschel Skaggs went home to Jesus on December 22, 2022 at age 88.

Herschel was born to Neal Skaggs and Nannie Anderson on September 20, 1934 in York, Kentucky. As a child, Herschel was rambunctious and head strong .

Herschel met his wife, Phyllis Marie Webb Skaggs in Greenup Kentucky. They married December 12th, 1953 and went on to have four children: Charlotte Ann Skaggs Fink (Doug Fink), John Wayne Skaggs (Cheryle Haskins), Keith Allen Skaggs (Merrie Jane Cunningham Skaggs), and Thomas Ray Skaggs (Cheryle Penix Skaggs). In addition to being a genealogist, Herschel also loved being active on Facebook. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Herschel joins his wife in awaiting the day of the great resurrection. He is survived by his brother Ralph Skaggs of Greenup, his children, 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at Eureka Baptist Church from 11-1pm. Funeral will be held immediately after the viewing by Ezra Burton. Burial will be after the funeral service at Holly Cemetery on Mud Lick Rd, Greenup Ky.
