Herbert's obituary
Father Herbert "Elmer thug" Seidel, also known affectionately by many as Elmer thug, but who preferred Herbert, was born on the 23rd of October, 1947. A man of vivacious and uplifting spirit, his life was joyously lived until his passing on the 25th of April, 2025.
Remembered fondly for his always upbeat, talkative, and bubbly personality, Herbert leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. True to his nature, he cherished the golden rule, imparting the wisdom of treating others as one wishes to be treated. A believer in the joy of giving, one of his greatest accomplishments was seeing a smile light up someone's face.
His love for life was evident in his favorite activities. An enthusiastic patron of German music, Herbert also reveled in the serenity of painting and the creative satisfaction of making something out of anything. His prefered way of staying active was through the simple, yet beautiful joy of walking outside.
Herbert also had a favorite palate of colors: purple, green, and blue. His preferred beverages were ginger ale, sweet tea, and a classic coke in a bottled. A loyal fan, the Detroit Lions was his sports team of choice, adding to his robust and diverse interests.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathy Seidel, Herbert is survived by his loving family; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Goebel; his sons, Thomas Seidel, Mikey Seidel, Bruce Hinds, and Daniel S; his daughter, Jackie Poulton; his granddaughters, Destiney Goebel and Karlee Seidel.
Herbert's love for helping people was a beacon that guided his actions throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to echo in the lives he touched. As we mourn his departure, we celebrate his life, cherishing the way he made the world a brighter place. Herbert will be greatly missed, and forever loved.
